What is the role?

We are looking for passionate and engaged students to join our team of Lead Reps. Acting as a link between Course Reps, the University and BCUSU, Lead Reps make sure that students have their voices heard at all levels of the University.

You will work with senior staff in your faculty on projects and also attend College and Faculty level meetings. You will have an opportunity to influence and give your feedback on the way the University does things and improve your student experience.

Our preferred candidates will be students who have experience being a Course Rep, although this isn't essential. You will need to be a good communicator with a positive approach to solving problems and the ability to quickly understand and evaluate new ideas.

You will need to work well in a team, able to build relationships with other students and staff, as well as being reliable and self-motivated.

Principle purpose of job

  • Represent the views of students at the College and Faculty level, and feedback on the outcomes of discussions.

  • Build relationships with key staff within the College and Faculty, and provide specific information about student issues and concerns.

  • Actively promote student participation in student engagement / quality enhancement activity, commenting critically but constructively on issues related to learning and teaching.

Pay

A £700 bursary is awarded per Academic Year for this role (prorated for mid-year vacancies).

  • Written Questions - answer 3 short written questions.

  • Video Questions - record a video of yourself answering 6 interview-style questions. 

  • Declaration and Submission - check that you're happy with your information being stored and shared, and where you submit your application. 

Your responses to the questions should demonstrate how you meet the person specification in the job description, and your ability to perform the duties of a Lead Rep. Your personal insights as a student are more valuable than an AI generated answer, please consider this in your application. Late submissions are not accepted.
