About K-Pop Society
Hi, we are BCU’s K-Pop Society!
We welcome everybody interested in K-Pop; from new stans to older stans, and from any fandom. Our weekly sessions are a great way to get to know new people, who may share with you the same/similar interests. We hold various kinds of socials, such as: dance classes, toploader decorating events, game nights, themed socials, etc. (We are always open to the members' suggestions.) Also, we plan to go to K-Pop nights together throughout the year.
Society Times
Wednesdays (main session) 4:00 - 7:00
Fridays (chilled session) 5:30 - 8:30
We also will book rooms (such as the Drama Studio or C087) separate to these session times to help get enough dance practice for Reload
Membership
To become a member of this society, you must be a current BCU student (either undergraduate or postgraduate) or BCU Alumni and/or Staff & you will need to purchase a membership through the shop on our bcusu.com page. The membership for current students is just £10, which would last you the entire year. For alumni and staff, it is £5 for the assoicate membership and then the price of the K-Pop Membership on top of that, which would also last you the year. This money will be put towards social events to allow them to be more enjoyable for all of our members. Throughout the year, we will be offering taster sessions, where you can gain insight on how our sessions run without any pressure/commitment.
Once you have bought the membership, you can be added to our Whatsapp community. This is where you get to further interact with other members, as well as share any activities or dances you want to try. Although most of our society sessions will be free, there may be small additional costs throughout the year to help towards funding our society, e.g. for certain events, you may have to buy a ticket from our bcusu shop in order to attend. Our members receive discounted tickets for these specific events.
Non-Members
We do host events that are open to the public, exemplified by our dance lessons and film nights. This means that you do not have to be a member of our society, nor a BCU student, to be able to partake. Again, there will be tickets available on our bcusu page (once these events are planned) and we try our best to make them affordable for all.
Reload
We have a dance cover group named ‘Reload’ for which we learn and post dance content on YouTube, as well as perform at HMV K-Pop events and potentially compete in national events. To be a member of Reload, you must be a member of the K-Pop Society, as the studio we use to practice is on-campus.
It is optional to be a part of Reload, so don't worry. At the start of each month, we send a Google Form to the group to see what songs the members would like to cover and partake in.
