Whilst our own JSoc is looking for a new committee, any BCU student looking to be part of a network of Jewish students in Birmingham can contact the wider Birmingham JSoc, which brings together Jewish students from UoB, BCU and Aston.
Birmingham JSoc is proud to have established itself as one of the largest and most active in the country over recent years. They represent over 1000 students across three Universities.
They host a wide range of events, covering social and cultural activities, campaigns, educational programmes and social action initiatives. They include massive weekly Friday night meals, parties on Jewish festival dates, guest speakers and social activities to keep you busy!
The Orthodox Shul has a kosher shop which stocks a huge range including meat, dairy, bakery and frozen. You genuinely don’t need to bring anything from home at all – but the opening hours differ each day, so check their website.
The large Sainsbury’s in Selly Oak has a kosher section too.
Kosher accommodation is available at Hillel House which is approximately a 10 minute bus or train journey to the city centre and a few minutes longer to reach the univeristy campus.
