What is Scrutiny Group?

Every year BCU students elect an Officer Team, their job is to represent students, create campaigns and work on projects to improve the university experience at BCU. 

Scrutiny Group members review the Officer Team's work based on a report, their manifestos and policy, as well as moderating progress of Ideas Board submissions.

Officers are required to write a report about their progress prior to the meetings, and the group will create questions to ask each Officer during the meeting. You can submit your questions below.

 

What will you need to do?

Scrutiny Group members review Officers' reports prior to the meeting have the chance to formulate questions.

At the start of the meeting, the panel convene for 30 minutes to discuss their findings and decide on areas to discuss with the Officer Team and which individual Scrutiny Group member will offer feedback.

 

Purpose of job:

  • Have knowledge of BCUSU governance structures and bylaws

  • To hold Officer Team to account

  • Work closely with the online Ideas Board process

 

What experience do you need?

No prior experience is required to apply for this position. However good knowledge of BCUSU, our campaigns, work and Officer Team will be useful.

Pay, hours and key dates

£11.44 per hour.

You'll be expected to committ to approximately 6 hours per month, including: training during week commencing 3rd March and monthly meetings in March, April and May.
