This event is not only for disabled students to learn what support is available, but for all students and staff to understand how we can be allys and support the disabled community at BCU. Join us for the whole day on Friday 17th November, or drop-in to select workshops from 9am-5pm. Drop in anytime from 3:15pm for our Disabled Students Fair.
Conference schedule:
9:30am - 10am: Arrival and refreshments
10:00am - 10:15am: Opening remarks from Pravjoth Gill, VP Equity & Inclusion
10:15am - 10:45am: How to build a career and improve your skills as a disabled person
10:45am - 11:15am: Money management for disabled students
11:15am - 11:30am: Break
11:30am - 12:15pm: Being a good ally to your disabled peers
12:15pm - 12:45pm: Disability support at BCU
12:45pm - 1:30pm: Lunch and refreshments
1:30pm - 2pm: Intro to BCUSU - disability representation and the student experience
2pm - 2:30pm: Empowering disabled students’ voices to improve academic experience
2:30pm - 2:45pm: Closing workshop remarks
2:45pm - 3:15pm: Break
3:15pm - 5pm: Disabled Students Fair (drop in)
Please note: we will try and stick as close to this schedule as possible, workshops may overrun

This event is taking place in The Shell, Parkside. Parkside Building is accessible to visually impaired and wheelchair users through an automatic door, you'll need to scan your ID card to activate the door. The atrium space has seating areas which you will be able to navigate around and access The Shell, no lift or ramp access is required to access the event location.
